The UAE sets 9 basic requirements for residents to bring in their spouse and children

The General Administration of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in the United Arab Emirates has set a number of basic requirements for residents of the UAE to be able to bring in their spouse and children, with a number of specific conditions that must be met.

According to the law in the United Arab Emirates, expatriate residents of the country can sponsor their families for residency, if they have a valid residence permit or visa.

Family residence visa requirements in the UAE

In order for you to be able to care for your family members (wife and children) in the UAE, it is initially required that you have a residence visa, whether sponsored by the employer or self-sponsored (green residence visa), investor visa, or golden visa, while fulfilling certain requirements that require Complete it to become eligible to care for your family members.

1- A valid residence permit and visa

Expatriate residents in the UAE are required to have a valid residence permit and visa in order to be able to sponsor their families to reside in the UAE.

2- The minimum salary is 4,000 dirhams or 3,000 dirhams

It is required that the minimum for a resident in the UAE be about 4,000 dirhams or 3,000 dirhams, knowing that the type of profession is no longer required so that the expatriate worker can have his entire family on a family visa in the UAE.

3- Medical tests for children over 18 years old

As for children over the age of 18, they are required to undergo medical fitness tests and must pass them in one of the approved health centers, knowing that people who are not medically fit will not be granted a residence visa.

It is noteworthy that the UAE is keen on medical fitness tests, and if it is discovered that a family member is infected with a disease such as inactive pulmonary tuberculosis, they are given health fitness certificates for a one-year stay and they are subjected to treatment by the relevant health authority in the country.

4- 60 days validity to obtain a family visa after entering the UAE

The UAE government allows 60 days for residents of the UAE to apply for a residence visa for the family after entering the country based on the entry permit.

For children born in the UAE, a residence visa can be applied for within 120 days of their birth.

5- Parental sponsorship

It is required to submit official documents proving the justification for caring for one or both parents, by submitting a sponsorship application for both of them, while if the parents are divorced or in the event of the death of one of them, it is required to provide justification for the care.

6- Annual sponsorship only for parents

The parents are granted an annual visa, which is renewed annually, regardless of the duration of the resident visa in the UAE, with the requirement to meet the salary requirements as stipulated by the Immigration Department.

7- It is not permissible to sponsor a married daughter

The Immigration Department in the United Arab Emirates prohibits sponsorship for a married daughter, and her sponsorship is stipulated for her to be single.

8- Sponsorship of the son until the age of 25 years

Residents of the United Arab Emirates can sponsor their children up to the age of 25 only, and if the son is a person of determination, he can be sponsored without restrictions related to a specific age.

9- Family sponsorship conditions vary according to each emirate

Expatriate residents have the option to sponsor their spouse's children, subject to the restrictions set by the Emirate's immigration department. An example of this would be the need that the sponsor provide a written no-objection certificate (NOC) from the biological parent in addition to a deposit for each child as outlined by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs - Dubai (GDRFA-D). ). Their resident permits can be renewed once a year and are good for that length of time.
